10 Naruto Tattoos Only True Fans Will Understand

naruto Since the show was first released in 2002, it has become a part of anime culture. It has been running for over 15 years and has gained a huge fan base along the way. People show their fans in a variety of ways, from buying merchandise to wearing makeup, from wearing printed t-shirts to getting tattoos.

Especially when looking at tattoos, what fans want can be very different. Tattoos can contain recognizable references, even to those less familiar with the show, such as if one tattooed the main character, with his spiky blond hair, beard, and orange jumpsuit . Sometimes, the reference tattoo narutoProbably only hardcore fans will notice. Here are ten things only these true fans will understand.

Cursed Heaven

Halfway through the first season, during the Chunin Exams, Orochimaru disguised himself as a jinnin named Shiorei from Kusamura, biting Sasuke’s neck and injuring him with the mark to convince him to join Orochimaru. This seal affects Sasuke’s character for most of the film’s duration.

The tattoo above is similar to the previous seal, making Sasuke strong but also the strongest. Also, the seal is usually hidden in Sasuke’s large shirt collar, so it’s not a recognizable symbol unless someone is familiar with the show.

Akamaru

Everyone knows that the Inuzuka clan of Konoha village has dogs as companions throughout their lives. Kiba Inuzuka is Naruto’s old classmate and has a companion named Akamaru, as shown in the tattoo above. Kiba and Akamaru are inseparable, Kiba can use ninjutsu in battle, and Akamaru serves as an extension of Kiba. Since Akamaru and Kiba are close together, if one can recognize Akamaru, it may not be easy to recognize Akamaru without Kiba around.

Rock Lee Drunken Fist

Rock Lee is a recurring character on the show who specializes in a form of jiu-jitsu or technique known as taijutsu, which is largely based on martial arts and hand-to-hand combat. In order to use the Drunk Fist technique, Lee must be… drunk. This technique can be used to distract an opponent, confuse them, and let them attack.

Only fans really know about the different fighting styles and jutsu used in the game narutoThe tattoo above, most likely taken directly from the manga, refers directly to the Drunken Master. While Lee is clearly getting drunk in the tattoo, a random person on the street may not know what Lee is talking about when he says Drunk Master, and may not even recognize Lee himself.

Uchiha itachi

The most recognizable character in the film is Naruto, followed probably by his former teammate Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke’s older brother, Itachi, is a lesser-known character, but one that greatly influenced Sasuke’s character line. Itachi and Sasuke look so similar that those unfamiliar with the series can easily mistake them for one another, but Itachi’s appearance has several key differences that set him apart from his brother.

First of all, Itachi has dark circles under his eyes, which means he is old. Second, Itachi is a member of Akatsuki, a group of rogue ninjas who have left their homeland. The Akatsuki member wears a black cape with a red cloud pattern and the man’s tattoo is only partially visible. Akatsuki also uses the kunai knife to scratch the symbol of their homeland on their headbands to show that they are no longer associated with that village. Finally, Itachi always activates his Sharingan.

NaraShikamaru

Shikamaru is a recurring character throughout the series. He was first introduced as Naruto’s classmate before they graduated from the Ninja Academy, and was assigned to other groups of classmates led by different teachers. Possessing an extremely high IQ, Shikamaru often gets bored with most everyday experiences. He thrives on intellectual stimulation, such as when he plays shogi with his teacher Asuma Sarutobi.

The tattoo above depicts Shikamaru smoking, a habit he acquired after the same smoking Asuma was killed in battle, in honor of his mentor. Smoke rose from the tattoo, forming Shikamaru’s catchphrase at the top: “What a nuisance,” he said boredly. Smoking habits, the catchphrase and the reason behind both can only be determined by watching the show.

i’m gaara

Gaara is a character who lives in Sand Village. Like Naruto, he has a tailed beast sealed inside of him. In his case, a single-tailed panda aka Japanese panda, known as Shukaku, was sealed inside him. This tattoo depicts one of Gaara’s eyes and the scar he made for himself as a child. Because of sealing Shukaku inside his body, his family and village ignored him, causing him to carve loving kanji on his forehead by manipulating sand, an ability he got from Shukaku. Cracks are also described in the tattoo reference when Gaara uses Ju-Jitsu sand armor, which can sometimes be pierced and thus broken.

ANBU Black Ops Tattoo

ANBU Black Ops is an elite organization of Jonin ninja whose members are basically mercenaries from their village. They are sometimes used as reinforcements in law enforcement or in combat, such as when Orochimaru and Otomura attacked Konoha during the Chunin Exams. Notable ANBU members include Hatake Kakashi, Naruto’s Master, Uzumaki Yudaka, and later Sai.

The above tattoos are actual tattoos of members of the Konoha Anbe army. While this individual has a tattoo on the inside of his wrist, ANBU members often have tattoos on their biceps.

Kakashi’s Sharingan

The Sharingan is unique to the Uchiha clan, except for Kakashi. Kakashi is not a member of the Uchiha clan, but was teammates with Obito Uchiha during his young ninja days. During a mission, after Kakashi injured his eye during a fight with an enemy ninja, Obito immediately activated his Sharingan.

Later in the same battle, Obito sacrificed himself to save Kakashi from a falling rock, causing half of his body to be crushed in the process. The party determined that the rock could not be moved, leading Obito to give Kakashi his working Sharingan Eye to replace the eye Kakashi lost before his death, thus giving Kakashi the scar.

Kakashi covered his Sharingan with a headband, which convinced enemy ninjas (such as Momochizabe) that the Sharingan was a legend until he witnessed it with his own eyes. However, because Kakashi’s eyes are obscured, even if non-fans know who Kakashi is, they may not necessarily know what’s under his headband.

Sharingan Kaleidoscope

One can only recognize the Sharingan if one has watched some shows, but the Sharingan with Kaleidoscope is much more difficult to recognize. This is partly because the kaleidoscope Sharingan’s pupil design is slightly different for each Sharingan user.

This Sharingan is more powerful than the original Sharingan Eye and is only activated after the powerful Sharingan user witnesses the death of a loved one. Only fans who’ve watched the show a lot and have an in-depth knowledge of the story will realize this tattoo specifically depicts Itachi’s Kaleidoscope Sharingan.

Linnegan

Rinnegan is another form of Dojutsu. The Rinnegan does not appear in the show until much later and is used by characters such as Pain and Madara Uchiha. It is a very powerful Dojutsu and grants the user many abilities. It seems that little is known about Dojutsu, including the characters in the movie.
