How to evolve Pawmo into Pawmot in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pawmi and its second evolution, Pawmo, are the first Electric Pokémon trainers will encounter in the Paldea region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Pawmo, a cute Electric Mouse Pokémon not unlike Pikachu, will crush Water and Electric-types early in the game with ease.

As players level up Pawmo, after many other Pokémon often evolve and see an entry missing from their Pokédex, most will wonder what the problem is: does Pawmo evolve? Why isn’t yours developing!?

This is because Pawmo has very unique evolutionary requirements that are somewhat hidden. We’ll show you how to turn Pawmo into Pawota in no time.

How to evolve Pawmo into Pawmot

To evolve Pawm, you need to walk him out of his Pokéball. While that sounds easy, it’s a bit more complicated than hatching a Pokémon egg.

Step 1: There are no level requirements to develop Pawm. You can re-evolve immediately after evolving from Pawmi at level 18. For the next evolution, we recommend that your Pawmo be close to leveling up via auto battles to save XP candy before proceeding.

Step 2: Go to any city on the map. You can also do this in the wild, but you’ll need to avoid wild Pokemon while walking. It’s much easier in the city, where you can’t accidentally find yourself in a battle.

Step 3 – Use the Let’s Go function to get Pawm out of his Pokéball. You can do this by pressing R. either ZR whenever.

Step 4: Now you have to walk 1000 steps with Pawma by your side.

There’s no pedometer to use, but it took us about six minutes of continuous walking to reach the evolution threshold.

Be careful not to stray too far from Pawm or it will automatically go back to its Pokéball and reset the counter. These steps must be all at once. Move the camera to make sure the little one keeps up with you.

Step 5 – After you’ve been walking for a while and you think you’ve taken 1000 steps, go to your bag and use XP Candy on Pawmo to level up.

If you don’t have XP candies, you can easily find them in Tera Raids. Instead, you can try to engage in a wild Pokémon battle.

If your Pawmo isn’t growing, you probably haven’t reached your 1000 step goal. Try again and run a bit more this time, then try to level up again.

Pawmot is by no means one of the most powerful Electric-type Pokemon in the game, so it’s not necessarily a must-have Pokemon to get through the game. But if you’re finishing up your Pokédex or need a solid thunder machine for the early game, Pawmot is a steal.
