Gujarat Day 2023: Gujarat Day, commonly known as Gujarat Sthapana Divas, is celebrated on 1st May every year. Under the Bombay Reorganization Act, Bombay state was divided into two states today in 1960. One is Gujarat for Gujarati speakers and the other is Maharashtra for Marathi speakers. Gujarat thus became a new state on this day.

History of Gujarat
Gujarat, the land of legends, is a state in the northwest of India. ‘Gujara’, Gujjars’ homeland, is the place named Fatherland. They ruled the region during the 700s and 800s. Gujarat has long been known all over the world. The Indus Valley Civilization and Stone Age settlements along the Sabarmati and Mahi rivers also date to the same time, and Harappa sites have also been discovered at Lothal, Rampur, Amri and elsewhere in the state.
