Why Eddie Lucas Will Never Return to Below Deck

Eddie Lucas made his debut on Below Deck season 1 and appeared in several later seasons, but he will not be making a return to the franchise anytime soon or maybe ever. The deckhand worked his way up the ranks to become a bosun and later the first officer on the Bravo series. The Baltimore native still spends his time on charter boats and yachts, but he revealed multiple reasons for leaving the franchise behind forever.

Below Deck‘s Eddie Lucas became a fan favorite after his multiple-season run on the series, but he did make some questionable choices. Eddie had an infamous “boatmance” with third stew Rocky Dakota during Below Deck season 3, despite having a girlfriend back home. The pair hid their fling for most of the season before it was confirmed in the season finale. Their laundry room trysts were one of the highlights of the season, but Eddie matured before coming back for Below Deck season 8.

Below Deck’s Eddie Will Likely Never Return

Eddie’s final appearance was on Below Deck season 9, and he made it clear he will not return next season or likely ever. Eddie and Captain Lee Rosbach developed a strong working relationship throughout their time on the show together, and it’s disappointing that their bond will likely never appear on-screen again. Eddie started last season with Below Deck replacement Captain Sean Meagher, and the dynamic between him and Captain Lee was noticeably missing. There does not appear to be any ill will between Eddie and Lee, but he does have issues with the network, Bravo, and the show overall.

Eddie Wasn’t Asked Back To Below Deck

It was surprising to learn that Eddie was not asked to return for Below Deck season 10. After publicly exposing Bravo for not paying the cast members enough, he will likely never get invited back. Eddie said during an interview with The New York Post that the cast gets paid the lowest amount compared to other Bravo shows. Another reason for the firing could be Eddie’s treatment of Below Deck co-star Rayna Lindsey, whose claims of racism on the boat he dismissed. Eddie went on to say that former Below Deck deckhand Rayna said a homophobic slur on the boat, which she denied.

Eddie’s comments towards Bravo may have shut him out of Below Deck, but other opportunities arose for him. Eddie was officially promoted to captain on a tug in Baltimore Harbor shortly after he completed his last season. Despite his time on Below Deck abruptly ending, it’s clear that Eddie made valuable relationships and gained career experience throughout the show. Even if he never returns, Eddie has earned his place as an accomplished Below Deck alum.
