Morriah Young wants to join Survivor 43 to “remember and honor” her mother.
Morriah Young, 28, is a performer and educator. He is joining Survivor 43 after the tragic death of his mother. Young said she spent her early years watching Survivor with her late mother, who recently passed away. She said she is competing this season just as a sign of her memory and respect.
In an interview with Parade, Young said:
“So I’ve been watching Survivor since it first aired in 2000, for as long as I can remember. I was maybe six or seven years old. I grew up watching it with my mother. It’s her favorite show. My sisters and I will watch it religiously. We will sit on the sofa with the remote control and popcorn.
In a separate interview with the Philadelphia Inquirer, she talked about her work and mentioned:
“I teach sixth, seventh, and eighth grade performing arts students at (Unpopular School) Camden Prep in Camden.”
Morriah Young expressed her motivation to join the show this season because she wanted to show children and teenagers that the ability to sing, dance, and act is wonderful and enjoyable, especially for those who are uncomfortable. when performing in public. She said as a performer:
“I have to convince them that’s a great thing.”
Morriah Young believes that as a high school teacher, she has learned to be patient and adapt her behavior to the ages of the students she works with. The parade quoted Moriah Young as saying:
“And this adds to the appeal of the game because you never know how you’re going to play. That’s why I’m so happy to be in Fiji! I come to Fiji because other people go to Africa, Guatemala or the Australian outback. As a result, the game becomes faster. However, the elements are not so extreme.”
The Philadelphia instructor also said the loss of her mother prepared her to play and survive.
Morriah continued:
“But losing a parent, especially a mother, is one of the most terrible losses you can go through, in my opinion. And Survivor is a visceral experience and a game where you’re stripped of everything. All the possessions that make you feel cozy, comfortable and at home are taken from you, and you are left on this deserted island.”
Moriah Young went on to say:
“That’s how I felt when my mother passed away; I feel like everything has been taken away from me. And so, if I can get through the loss of my parents and stay strong and resilient and find a way to live despite the greatest loss, I know I can make it through 26 days and win.”
