On Monday, September 26, 2022, NBC’s The Voice Season 22 premiered a brand new episode. Coaches Blake Shelton, John Legend, Camila Cabello and Gwen Stefani are currently vying for greatest singer to join their group in blind auditions. Audiences have been seeing some of the contestants’ performances since the popular reality series debuted last week.
Many of these contestants wowed the judges, and at least one chair turned them around, earning them a spot on The Voice. Ava Lynn Thuresson, born in California, is one such candidate. The 18-year-old took to the stage and wowed the judges with a flawless performance of Britney Spear’s hit song, Baby One More Time. She created her own grunge cover for the all-time pop classic. John Legend pressed the button and followed the contestant minutes after her performance. Camila Cabello also turned her chair towards The Voice season 22 contestant at the end of the performance. Gwen Stefani expressed her admiration for Ava’s grunge style and regretted not contacting her in time. Despite John’s efforts to invite Ava Lynn to join him, she ended up choosing Camila as her coach for the remainder of the season. Ava Lynn from The Voice just graduated from high school.
Ava graduated from Church Catholic High School in May, according to her Instagram page. She captioned photos of herself at a graduation ceremony,
“I feel sad to be a member of class ’22.”
In her application, Ava said she would attend Berkley University. She also posted a picture of herself wearing a sweater and college cap. One Voice participant referred to him as a “golden bear,” possibly a reference to the University of California, Berkeley’s Golden Bears sports team.
Ava has been selected to attend the Grammy Camp.
In 2020, Ava announced that she had been selected to participate in the Grammy Camp. She turned to social media and shared a message about her summer camp. She annotated it with,
“I am delighted to announce that I have been selected to attend Grammy Camp this summer! #GRAMMYCamp @grammymuseum Can’t wait to work with amazing guest artists!”
Ava is a high school cheerleader who also stars in her spring musical. She has shared photos of her school days on her Instagram profile. The 18-year-old dedicated her performance on The Voice to her drowning cousin.
In her memory, The Voice season 22 contestant entered the blind audition with her cousin Dawson. Dawson drowned at a very young age. Ava often mentions him on her Facebook. She also has a specific Dawson profile, as noted in her bio. She shared a video montage of Dawson wishing him a happy birthday in May. In early January, she shared another childhood photo of herself holding a guitar with the message,
“January 27/17 Dawson, music for you now and forever #lovelikedawson.”
