Real-Life FNAF Circus Baby Animatronic Shows How Terrifying She Really Is

A talented Five Nights at Freddy’s fan has created a real-life version of the menacing Circus Baby animatronic. While initially presenting herself as an ally in Sister Location, the game’s final stages reveal Baby’s true villainous nature, cementing her position as another member of the game’s rich roster of robotic foes.

After a year of development, Reddit user xmasbad has created an amazing animatronic replica of Circus Baby. Although clearly smaller than the original Baby, who stood at an enormous 7’2″, this version retains the shifting face-plates and eerie appearance. An ice cream cone is also visible within the robot’s torso. It should be noted that this Baby is currently missing her limbs, although appreciative fans have joked that giving the animatronic legs would only endanger everyone around her. Creator xmasbad already suffered a thumb injury during production. Despite these inconsistencies, though, xmasbad has clearly built an accurate version of the FNAF animatronic, which has helped her builder to earn over 3,000 upvotes.

FNAF Circus Baby Animatronic Doesn’t Need To Be Life Size To Be Terrifying

This animatronic is clearly an impressive piece of engineering. It seems likely that the reduction in size is a purely practical choice; the original Baby is canonically enormous, which would be a complex task to replicate even for full-time professionals. A smaller Baby makes the project much more manageable, and even then it has taken most of a year for xmasbad to reach this point. But despite the lesser size, Baby seems to be fully operational, as demonstrated by her moving face-plates deconstructing her appearance in disturbing fashion. While many cosplayers have brought FNAF characters to life in the past, it is much more unusual to see an actual animatronic built in homage to the games.

Circus Baby was built by franchise villain William Afton to capture and kill children in secret. Unfortunately, the first and only victim of this hidden function was Afton’s own daughter, Elizabeth, whose spirit then went on to possess the Baby animatronic. This is relayed to the player in Baby’s first appearance in Sister Location, and the child-like killer robot has made subsequent appearances in various other games. Her original face (although not, curiously, that of her more recent ‘Scrap Baby’ design) can be seen as part of The Blob during the ending of FNAF: Security Breach, and some fans have speculated that she may have somehow survived the climactic fire of FNAF 6.

xmasbad has built a singularly terrifying animatronic, much to the delight of Five Nights at Freddy’s fans everywhere. Their skill as an engineer is on full display with Baby’s mechanisms, with which it is easy to replicate the face-shifting jumpscares that Baby gives in the games. This reconstruction has also accurately captured the sinister nature of Circus Baby’s basic design, and the uncanny valley eeriness it can instill. The knowledge that she’s already drawn blood makes her even more frightening. Out of all the ways that fans have built FNAF‘s animatronics, from LEGO to cosplay, actual animatronic replicas like this are arguably the most impressive.
