New Percy Jackson and The Olympians images showcase details from the upcoming show. Percy Jackson, which premieres on Disney+ on December 20, is the latest adaptation of the Rick Riordan book series of the same name following two movies starring Logan Lerman in 2010 and 2013. Walker Scobell stars as Percy Jackson, a young man who discovers that he is the son of the Greek god Poseidon and is whisked away to a camp for children of gods, where he goes on an adventure with his satyr best friend Grover (Aryan Simhadri) and Athena’s daughter Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries).
Entertainment Weekly has shared a gallery of new exclusive images from Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1. In addition to showcasing Percy’s Camp Half-Blood armor as well as his more casual camp look, the gallery also reveals an armored-up Annabeth and a nervous-looking Grover. One additional image shows Percy and Annabeth sharing an intimate moment in a boat drifting through what is most likely the Tunnel of Love, which is an important location from the book. Percy Jackson’s Core Trio Explained
These images showcase the core trio that forms the spine of the entire series. While Percy is the title character and has been the primary focus of the first Percy Jackson trailer, Annabeth and Grover play just as important a role in the overall series. Just like Harry, Hermione, and Ron in the Harry Potter books, Percy, Grover, and Annabeth use their different skills to form a strong team that learns and grows together over the course of their various adventures.
All three were present in the original pair of Percy Jackson movies as well, with Alexandra Daddario playing Annabeth and Brandon T. Jackson playing Grover opposite Logan Lerman’s Percy Jackson. Percy, who believes he is a human with dyslexia before he discovers his mythological roots, is the first character introduced in the story. His introduction is followed quickly by the introduction of Grover, Percy’s protector who is disguised as a human child until he reveals his satyr nature after Percy learns the truth of his lineage.
It isn’t until the pair are whisked away to Camp Half-Blood that they meet Annabeth. She is a fierce warrior who struggles with bottling up her feelings. Despite her initial friction with Percy, Annabeth eventually becomes a love interest for him over the course of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
