The younger son of Martin Luther King Jr., Dexter King passed away at the age of 62 on 22 January 2024 due to prostate cancer in his sleep at his Malibu, California, home. His Wife Leah Weber said,

“He gave it everything and battled this terrible disease until the end. As with all the challenges in his life, he faced this hurdle with bravery and might.”

Dexter King’s brother Martin Luther King III said that he was deeply saddened by the loss of his beloved brother. He said in a statement, 

“The sudden shock is devastating. It is hard to have the right words at a moment like this. Please keep the entire King family in your prayers, and in particular Dexter’s wife, Leah Weber.”

Dexter’s brother sister Yolanda King passed away in 2007 a year after his mother’s death.
