  • Get ready for a major shakeup in the MCU with Deadpool & Wolverine.
  • Feige hints at universe-sized consequences for Deadpool as he explores the multiverse.
  • Wade Wilson will soon realize the offer to intervene in the multiverse isn’t as straightforward as he initially thought.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to get massively changed via the multiverse, as Kevin Feige teases the consequences of Deadpool & Wolverine. Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson is finally getting closer to living in the same world as the Avengers, with the Deadpool & Wolverine story set to bring him into the MCU on a permanent basis. Despite being the only MCU movie to hit theaters in 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine is already gearing up to be a major cornerstone for The Multiverse Saga.

With only two months left to go, the hype for Deadpool & Wolverine is higher than ever. In a new cover piece by Empire, Feige speaks to the impact that Deadpool & Wolverine will have on the larger MCU multiverse, as the Marvel Studios president stated the following:

Deadpool is very intrigued by [the Sacred Timeline]. He learns soon thereafter that it’s not quite as simple an offer as he thought it was and the stakes are universe-sized.

While time will tell what Feige’s comments mean fully, it still begs the question of how significant these changes will be for the MCU multiverse going forward. It has been made clear through the marketing that the Deadpool & Wolverine cast will consist of some returning actors from past X-Men and Fox-Marvel movies. With more cameos likely being kept under wraps, Deadpool & Wolverine is subtly implying that the film will mark the proper conclusion to Fox’s Marvel era.

However, the sendoff may be more lethal than some are prepared for, as it wouldn’t come as a shock to see the X-Men cinematic universe completely destroyed after Deadpool & Wolverine. Since the MCU is getting ready to reboot the X-Men franchise under Marvel Studios, it makes sense to see Fox’s universe be wiped out, serving as an official end to that continuity. It would also allow for the Deadpool & Wolverine story to have some serious stakes in place, showing the ramifications that are about to happen.

Whether or not there could be some implications for even Sony’s Spider-Man Universe remains to be seen, but given how the MCU has engaged with some of the other Spider-Man worlds, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them affected, too. As exciting as it will be to see Deadpool joining forces with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, there are bound to be some casualties across the multiverse. For now, the world will have to wait and see just how game-changing Deadpool & Wolverine will be for the MCU multiverse.
