The latest episode of Ahsoka sees its titular character getting a significant costume change. Ahsoka episode 5 ends with Ahsoka connecting to the purrgil and setting off on her intergalactic journey with Huyang while showcasing a brand-new all-white outfit. Ahsoka has officially traded the gray robes she’s been seen in since her live-action debut in 2020’s The Mandalorian season 2 for white, a color she’s briefly worn before.
Ahsoka’s change in costume goes much deeper than a simple color exchange, as it’s meant to symbolize her transformation after being resurrected. She was thought to dead after Baylan Skoll pushed her off the Seatos henge, but Ahsoka’s time with her former master Anakin Skywalker in the World Between Worlds in Ahsoka episode 5 sees her beginning a transformation much like Gandalf the Gray’s. White is a color often associated with rebirth, and Ahsoka’s journey through her own rebirth after facing her past has nearly been complete – but there’s one thing missing that reveals she still has more learning to do.
Ahsoka Is Still Missing Her Staff From Star Wars Rebels’ Ending
Ahsoka was first seen wearing white in the Star Wars Rebels epilogue when she teamed up with Sabine Wren to find Ezra Bridger, which has since been retconned by the Ahsoka series. Her journey through live-action has now helped her to reach this point again, but she’s missing her staff. The absence of this staff means that Ahsoka still has some more changes to go through before she officially completes her inner journey and becomes Ahsoka the White. Staffs often act as symbols of authority, power, and strong compassion, all of which Ahsoka will likely show as her intergalactic journey moves forward.
How, When & Why Will Ahsoka Start Using A Staff In Star Wars?
As of now, there’s no real urgency or reason for Ahsoka to start using a staff, especially with her lightsabers well-equipped. Most staffs in Star Wars have either an electro-weapon addition or are used simply to aid one’s ability to walk. It could be that Ahsoka finds her staff in this new galaxy, either as a gift or a tool to gain authority and maintain her connection to the Force. This would most likely occur before her confrontation with Grand Admiral Thrawn and his allies, as the staff would be an extra tool in her arsenal for their battle. If Ahsoka succeeds in staving off Thrawn for now, it could be a gift from the New Republic to acknowledge her efforts in keeping the galaxy safe.
Ahsoka’s transformation will only be entirely complete once she gains her staff. It makes sense that she hasn’t received it yet, seeing as Ahsoka has only just passed the halfway mark, and its titular character should still have some growing to do before the season finale. The beginning of her transformation to Ahsoka the White in Ahsoka episode 5 poses many other exciting possibilities as to what could be in store for viewers, including the return of her convor Morai and maybe even some new Force abilities. There’s a lot left in store for Ahsoka, as the story in the new galaxy is only just beginning.
