Curtis “50 Cent” Johnson Jackson recently announced that he won’t be renewing his contract with Starz, the home of shows like Power, and fans are excited about the potential for new opportunities for the rapper, American actor and producer. “I want to thank BET for giving me the Hustler of the Year Award. No one from the music industry has achieved success in television production. I currently have 25 shows and have made some significant deals outside of television. My contract with STARZ expires tomorrow.”
According to Deadline Hollywood, he is reviewing proposals from other studios and streaming services for his G-Unit Film & Television, which is currently working on 25 projects. This marks the end of 50 Cent’s ten-year relationship with Starz.
While the Power series, in which the rapper starred as well as executive producer, ended in 2020, it was extended into three sequels. Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force put him in the role of executive producer. The third installment of Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book III: Raising Kanan have been renewed. Power Book IV: The Force has also been renewed for a second season. According to Deadline Hollywood, Power creator Courtney Kemp did not renew her contract with Starz in 2021 and left Netflix on a four-year contract. On the other hand, Kemp remains an executive producer of the Power series.
