You’ve got the eyes of a hawk if you can spot this crafty lizard lurking on a branch. Can you see behind the camouflage?

ONLY those with hawk eyes could make out a lizard hanging from a tree.

The colorful little reptile was discovered by a photographer in Nosy Be, Madagascar.

The tree, whose bark is covered in lichen, may not seem like there’s anything out of the ordinary going on, but a closer look should reveal a lizard.

The eyes can be seen at the top right of the image, while the rest of the lizard’s slender body moves towards the base of the tree.

Kate Marshall, a member of the Department of Zoology at the University of Cambridge, said research suggests that lizards use this camouflage to avoid predators, especially birds, according to Phys.org.

This conclusion was reached after a group of experts discovered that lizards will quickly match the color of the rock they rest on for protection.

“This strongly suggests that lizards rely on backgrounds that enhance their own camouflage to reduce the risk of bird predation, and that individual behavior plays an important role in enhancing camouflage across different microhabitats,” Marshall explained.

Madagascar is also home to at least 10 known species of lizard.

They include day geckos, satanic leaf geckos, Parsons’ chameleon, panther chameleon, and several others, according to Reptiles Cove.

However, officials in the country say there are a total of 210 species.

According to the photo’s description, this lizard was a “high cascade chameleon (Chamaeleo hoehnelii).”

Given their ability to blend in with their surroundings, you probably won’t be able to spot all of them.

BIRD’S PERSPECTIVE

While spotting more lizards can be difficult, viewers may get lucky seeing other wildlife in some optical illusions.

As previously reported by America’s The Sun, native Indian leopards can be incredibly difficult to spot while feeding.

A photo of one of the big cats by photographer Sudhir Shivaram confused many viewers.

The rocky terrain made it difficult to locate the leopard, and only those with hawk eyes could see it.

Sudhir said: “The place is very popular with leopards due to its rocky terrain.

“The leopard came out of his den and was resting.”

Another photo also went viral of a hiding snow leopard, and spotting it in five seconds can mean you have excellent eyesight.

The big cat fits perfectly in the snowy mountains.

“Some snow leopards cover themselves in snow for near-perfect camouflage like this,” the caption read.

More dangerous still, a photographer was able to spot and avoid a venomous copperhead lurking among foliage in South Ayrshire, Scotland.

“The reason why you have to watch every step you take when you are in the woods,” the author of the publication wrote next to the photo.

The image has left users scratching their heads, can you see it?
