The cat cafe is officially closed. On May 4, 2023, after three seasons, “Call Me Kat” aired its final episode, “Call Me a Donut Wall,” on Fox. From 2021, the audience follows the journey of Kat (Mayim Bialik), a single woman who goes against her mother Sheila’s (Swoosie Kurtz) desire to open a coffee and cat paradise. However, her entrepreneurial endeavors — and her fractured relationship with Max (Cheyenne Jackson) — came to an abrupt end when “Call Me Kat” wasn’t refreshed for a fourth season.
According to Fox, the falling ratings were the main reason “Call Me Kat” was canceled. From the 2021-22 season, the third season’s average of 2.23 million viewers dropped 24%. Although ratings jumped 28% following the tragic death of star Leslie Jordan in October 2022, this is only temporary.
Fox said in a statement, “We are very proud of ‘Call Me Kat.’ Productions, BBC Studios, Mayim Bialik, Jim Parsons and the entire cast and crew for their work and dedication to ‘Call Me Kat’.”
Saying “goodbye” to “Call Me Kat” was a blow to Mayim Bialik for several reasons. This is her first big TV role since “The Big Bang Theory” ended, and she has to work again with Jim Parsons, the show’s executive producer. Plus, Bialik gets to play a character not too different from herself: the quirky and socially anxious Kat, who wears gray hair and doesn’t wear Spanx.
Despite the sadness of not being able to continue Kat’s story, Bialik continued. Twitter to share how he thinks Season 4 will play out. She said, “You decide which ending you want, but as far as I know, I think we all end up here: Kat and Max (Cheyenne Jackson) live happily ever after, Randi (Kyla Pratt) ) and Carter (Julian Gant) ) get married and live the same life, and Sheila (Swoosie Kurtz) forever brings joy and wisdom into each person’s life. Phil (Leslie Jordan) lives forever.”
