The Doom Slayer Rips & Tears His Way To Reality With Stunning Cosplay

Doom Slayer, the iconic titular character from the Doom franchise, has made his way into reality thanks to a beautiful cosplay from a Reddit user. Doom‘s protagonist has undergone numerous updates over the years, but the basic concept of Doom‘s Doomguy armor has remained the same, with the character decked in green and brown.

Doom came to represent a new era of gaming after it first released in 1993 as shareware, creating a sub-culture within the industry that included modding and early multiplayer gaming. As the years passed, support for the franchise only increased, as more games were released in the series and more people were subjected to the mayhem sparked by the main protagonist, Doom Slayer, against hordes of demons from Hell. Although most of the attention on the franchise now has been on the 2016 Doom reboot and its follow-up, Doom Eternal, mods are still being released for the original Doom to this day, with one modder adding ray-tracing thanks to a fan-made patch.

Dcw14 on Reddit recently uploaded his Doom Slayer cosplay, to the praise of other Redditors. Dcw14, also known as dcwbuilds, is an avid cosplayer with multiple unbelievable builds. This particular Doom Slayer cosplay was worn to C2E2 in downtown Chicago. He states in a comment that he wanted the cosplay to be a cross between Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal, mainly featuring the arm blade. The end result is something that looks like it came straight out of the new rebooted series, as it sports a genuinely impressive level of craft and detail.

Doom Slayer Cosplay Brings Everyone’s Favorite FPS Hero To Life

Doom‘s influence and popularity has ensured that it’s endured longer than many other game franchises, with affection for the original being so much that fans have made it playable inside another copy of Doom. It has now gotten to the point where it is seen as a challenge to make the original Doom playable on whatever apparatus has a screen. This shows the commitment that fans of the series have, whether it be through cosplay or through feats of ingenuity, to show their love.

While fans of the series continue to spend their time using their worldly skills to make otherworldly creations, players can continue to enjoy the series through the new games on current-gen platforms, or even get a sense of nostalgia by playing the old games on whatever new port a modder has thought of. Even old mobile Doom games are being ported to PC, with Doom‘s strangest spinoff game finally coming to the platform after being exclusive to phones for over 15 years.
