Taylor Dome’s age gap with Taylor Swift throws back to bygone Speak Now era

As the three Taylors – Taylor Lautner, Taylor Dome, Taylor Swift – converge at the Eras Tour, we take a look at the age of each star when they were first linked.

Swifties were surprised by the appearance of Taylor Lautner at the first night in Kansas City, Missouri. Taylor Swift was joined on stage by the Twilight star, as well as Joey King and Presley Cash, to debut her new music video for I Can See You. This date also marks the re-release of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), an era deeply associated with Taylor Lautner in the mind of Swift’s fans. But it seems like there’s no bad blood here, as the Twilight alum was all smiles at the Kansas City show with his wife, Taylor Dome.

How old was Taylor Lautner when he dated Taylor Swift?

Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift dated for a few months in the fall of 2009 when the Twilight star was 17 years old. He had met Swift on the set of Valentine’s Day, which was released a year later. Swift is two years his senior and would’ve been 19 years old when they were briefly dating.

They starred across from one another in rom-com Valentine’s Day which featured a major ensemble cast besides both Taylors. Bradley Cooper, Anne Hathaway, Julia Roberts, and Jamie Foxx were also included in the cast.

Fans long believed that Back To December from Speak Now was written about their young love and subsequent breakup. It now appears that both Taylors are confirming this theory given his promotion and involvement with Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

Taylor Lautner and Taylor Dome have a greater age gap

Age gaps between celebrity couples have always been of interest to fans. It certainly has been for Swifites, particularly since the release of All Too Well (10 Minute Version) in the fall of 2021. In this hit track, Swift details the power imbalances she faced when dating an older man when she was just 20 years old.

Taylor Lautner was the younger of the two in his relationship with Taylor Swift, but he is five years older than his wife, Taylor Dome. Dome is born on March 17, 1997 making the California-born nurse currently 26 years old. Lautner was born on February 11, 1992, meaning he is now 31.

Last year, Lautner and Dome tied the knot after four years of dating. They went public with their relationship in 2018, with the Twilight star proposing in November 2021.

Taylor Dome reveals she’s been a Swiftie since a young age

On Friday, July 7, Taylor Lautner and wife Taylor Dome attended the first of two nights of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Kansas City. The trio decided to immortalize their meet-up in Swiftie history by snapping a pic in the Spider-Man multiverse meme pose, as seen above.

Swifties were quick to jump into the comments section of Lautner’s Instagram post. “This is why you will forever be Taylor’s best ex,” one commented, solidifying the general attitude towards the Twilight star.

Taylor Dome also shared her appreciation of the You Belong With Me hitmaker with her own Instagram post. Dome addressed the post to Taylor: “You are not only one of the most talented people to ever walk this earth (truly don’t think there is anything you can’t do) but you are also one of THE kindest people. You welcomed my husband and I into your camp with open arms and the warmest heart.”

Dome also shared a snap of herself with Taylor Swift in 2010, when she was just a “fan.”

Dome would have been around 13 years old when the picture was taken, around the original release of Speak Now with Back To December on it. Taylor Swift would have been 20 years old at this point, just after she and Taylor Lautner had broken up. This will feel like a lifetime ago, no doubt, given how much has changed about each Taylor in the decade since.
