Shelter for Dogs Rescued Together They sleep next to each other every night!

Romeo and Damian are pit bulls rescued together at the age of 5. The cubs were unfortunately malnourished, dehydrated, and lost weight when discovered by the Nassau County SPCA, with their ribs, spine and hips visible.

They were immediately transported to a local veterinary clinic to receive care they never seemed to receive.

Veterinarians examined the canines and discovered that, among other problems, Romeo had a metal foreign body in his stomach. Both dogs have a long way to go to recover, but the abandonment and heartbreak they went through didn’t dampen their spirits…

Both Romeo and Damian need human contact and love whoever helps them heal.

Maria Mora, SPCA Executive Director of Nassau County told The Dodo, “Both are lovely.” “Lovely people are their specialty. However, they will need training to improve their behavior.”

Though they adore people, Romeo and Damian have a very close relationship and seem to be comforting each other as they recover and wait to be found by their perfect permanent home.

When Romeo and Damian slept, they kept wanting to touch and hug…… and that was the cutest thing.

“They will be ready for adoption after receiving the medical certificate, which we expect at any time,” added Mora.

Romeo and Damian have been through a lot, but with mutual help and the love of a savior, they are ready to move on and accept a second chance.

If you are interested in adopting Romeo or Damian (or both!), contact the Nassau County SPCA.
