Robert took to his Instagram and wrote a lengthy post addressing his followers. He wrote: “If she followed our journey, I’m sure she, like us, hoped she could beat this insidious disease. In recent months things have gotten progressively worse and we’re grateful to have been able to get to this point over the holidays and try to make every moment count.”
Robert and Melanie were 9 days away from celebrating their 16th wedding anniversary.
He further added: “My family, our doctors, our nurses, and especially Melanie, fought to the end and did everything they could to prevent it today, but that’s not our way.”
Robert invited everyone to share inspirational photos, memories, and projects of Melanie’s. He added that she will be able to walk, sing and dance in a way that her body has not allowed her in recent months. He thanked everyone for the gifts, messages and prayers.
On their 15th wedding anniversary, Robert announced: “Today we celebrate 15 years. We’re having fun with the treatment that ended with a dinner to eat in the car… hahaha. We got another good scan result (more reduction, no new tumors), so it’s a great day! I love you more than the day we got married @hammrproductions.”
Melanie began sharing her health issues in January 2019. In December 2018, she revealed that her doctor had found a mass on her kidney. Later in 2020, she was diagnosed with a rare type of sarcoma called an epithelioid angiomyolipoma.
