Morty from Rick & Morty isn’t known for having the best moves in wooing the opposite sex, and fans know that he’s pent up on one day making Jessica his one true love. As the show has progressed, it becomes clearer that Jessica might just be the right girl for Morty. She’s one of the rare characters on the show that isn’t toxic.
In the show’s time on air, Morty has flopped a couple of times in keeping Jessica for himself. It leads fans to wonder who would be a better match for him? There has only been a handful of female characters Morty has had a romantic rendezvous with.
Jessica: Doesn’t Care About Social Status
It’s no surprise that Jessica would be the popular girl in school that everyone adores. She’s beautiful and doesn’t think lowly of others. This is especially true in her interactions with Morty. Morty isn’t the top guy at school, and he hasn’t moved up the totem pole in popularity.
In their many interactions, Jessica has no problem talking to Morty. She has no regard for social status at school and is more than curious to Morty and even gives him words of encouragement. This type of person is someone that Morty needs in his life.
Better Option: Tricia Lange
Tricia Lange isn’t the worst choice for Morty compared to Arthricia from the episode, “Look Who’s Purging Now.” Tricia doesn’t have a real relationship with Morty in the show but Morty doesn’t stray from finding her attractive. Tricia does have certain qualities that might suit Morty.
Beyond physical attributes, Tricia can be sensitive to emotions as Morty can be as well. Tricia being an option for Morty can be tricky as she is a bit self-centered and may have different preferences in the bedroom.
Jessica: She’s Not Self-Centered
Jessica not being self-centered goes hand in hand with her not caring for social status. Just because Jessica is the popular girl does not mean that she thinks highly of herself. In many instances, it’s the exact opposite. Morty keeps a death crystal because it shows him a future with Jessica. He later learns that Jessica wants to be a worker at a hospice, as she wants to give people comfort as they are close to death.
From this alone, Jessica sounds like a good person who is caring. The same goes for when Morty and Jessica are on a date in “Rest and Ricklaxastion” and Jessica gets turned off by Morty’s new cocky and self-determined persona.
Jessica: She’s Knows Rick
The good thing about Jessica is that she’s not entirely phased by Rick’s drunken and absurd behavior. Rick is a hard character to get to know, much less interact with on a casual basis. Jessica is aware of Rick’s relationship with Morty and doesn’t say anything about it at times.
When it comes to having to be with Morty, it’s a good thing that Jessica could care less about Rick’s antics as his antics can easily be a deal-breaker for some people.
Better Option: Annie
Annie made her debut in one episode, “Anatomy Park.” She was a young teen who works at Anatomy Park inside the body of a homeless man named Ruben. She was part of Dr. Xenon Bloom’s team when the park started to destruct. She soon meets Morty when Rick uses a shrink ray to transport him inside Ruben.
There are some drawbacks to Annie as she overlooked Morty and didn’t see him as relationship material. However, when Morty saves the team from Gonorrhea and attacks Poncho, she sees him in a new light. The heroic act by Morty leads them to have a makeout session that’s interrupted by Rick. Annie’s mental ability to be okay with an amusement park in a man’s body shows she would understand Morty’s lifestyle with Rick.
Jessica: She Doesn’t Think Morty’s Weird
Who wouldn’t find Morty a bit weird? He’s a 14-year-old who barely goes to school and goes on absurd adventures with his drunk grandfather. One of the best attributes that Jessica has is that she doesn’t think Morty is weird. She’s very open and understanding of his bizarre life.
On many occasions, she listens to Morty as he explains why he wasn’t at school or what happened to him recently. When Rick turns himself into Tiny Rick, Morty tells her the truth that he’s actually his grandpa. Jessica doesn’t think much of it and says, “Cool.” She doesn’t mind his company at all. She even dances with him in “Big Trouble In Little Sanchez.”
Jessica: She Helps Save Morty
Jessica’s best moment in the show is when Rick enlists her help to bring back Morty to infuse his toxic version back where it belongs. Jessica helps track Morty down by a phone call and tries to convince Morty that his new persona isn’t really him. Jessica and Rick get into a fight when Jessica refuses to accept that she helped Morty out of affection.
Rick and Jessica go into a huge debate on who really wanted the old Morty back. Fans know that due to Jessica’s personality, she had some feelings towards Morty’s well-being. Later on, as Morty is dragged to another mission, Jessica stops him and tells him she’s glad he’s back.
Better Option: Morty’s Girlfriend
Fans were heartbroken when Morty’s chance at a good and stable relationship is ruined by Jerry. In “The Vat of Acid,” Morty gets a remote that sends him back to his saved point. He encounters a young and pretty girl on the street and falls in love instantly. Morty starts to fall hard and no longer uses the remote.
Morty and his girlfriend made the perfect match in heaven. They even survive a plane crash in the snowy mountains. Jerry being Jerry, finds the remote and forced Morty back to his saved point. Jerry’s error results in Morty’s relationship to no longer exist. By the looks of it, Morty’s girlfriend made him happy.
