RDR2 DLC Imagined By Fans As War Of The Worlds Invasion

Red Dead Redemption 2 has garnered a loyal following since its release in 2018, earning near-universal acclaim and shattering records for sales. With such an ardent fanbase, it’s no surprise that many are eagerly anticipating news of any potential new content for the game. While developer Rockstar Games is currently focused on their upcoming title, Car Thief 6, fans have been petitioning for additional single-player DLC content to continue the story of Arthur Morgan, a former Van der Linde gang member introduced in the main game.

One popular idea floating around among fans is an alien-focused DLC expansion inspired by H.G. Wells’ classic science fiction novel War of the Worlds. The novel, which was released in 1898 – the same year in which Red Dead Redemption 2 takes place – tells the story of Earth being invaded by giant squid-like creatures from another planet. Reddit user Proposterum recently shared this concept with the community, suggesting that a Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC might see Arthur Morgan facing off against these extraterrestrial invaders rather than zombies (as was the case in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare).

Interestingly enough, there have already been reports of UFO sightings within Red Dead Redemption 2’s expansive open world version of the Old West. Whether or not these mysterious flying objects are related to any potential DLC remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: fans are eager for more adventures in this beloved virtual world.

Fans want Red Dead Redemption 2 DLC with aliens

Many Red Dead Redemption fans would be happy to see any new content, as Rockstar seems to have put its epic Western franchise aside for Grand Theft Auto 6 and to support Grand Theft Auto Online. Earlier this year, Rockstar announced that they would stop supporting the neglected Red Dead Redemption Online app, a development that even caught the attention of the voice actors for John Marston and Arthur Morgan. By the time eight years have passed since the release of Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2, fans may have to wait a long time for Red Dead Redemption 3 to be released. Meanwhile, the rich open-world setting of Red Dead Redemption 2 is ready for additional stories, even those that don’t fit within the standard timeline of the base game. The expansion hinted at with Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare suggests that Rockstar’s take on the Old West could take place in a more fantastical setting, while Arthur Morgan’s idea of a giant alien world war could make for some interesting games. However, it looks like fans won’t see any new Red Dead Redemption 2 content – alien or not – until Rockstar focuses on the future of Grand Theft Auto. Source: Proposterum/Reddit.
