Optical illusion you can try at home with a mirror today described as ‘glitch in the Matrix’

TIKTOK users try to make sense of a viral video of a stunning mirror illusion.

People have noticed that if you stand in front of a mirror and look down, you can still see your feet in the reflection, even though the mirror doesn’t reach the floor.

TikTok star Kyliekathleen88 has been inundated with confusing comments after her daughter discovered the hack.

One said it “found an error in the array.”

While another couldn’t believe it, “Why can you see something that is NOT in the mirror?”.

An astonished third user admitted: “For some reason my brain just can’t figure this out even though people have explained it to me.”

If you just tried it and you’re just as confused, don’t worry, you won’t go crazy.

It turns out that there is a perfectly logical scientific explanation for this, which boils down to the law of reflection.

“The law of reflection states that when a ray of light reflects off a surface, the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection,” according to Physics Classroom.

Basically it all comes down to the angle you are at and how the light from your feet bounces off the mirror.

“It’s like seeing a car in the right side mirror while driving, even though you’re not directly in front of the mirror,” explained one commenter.

If you like optical illusions, definitely don’t miss this one, which reveals a color that your computer screen can’t show.

The color is known as ‘true cyan’.

There is also the so-called ‘super illusion’ that makes you see things that do not exist.

Meanwhile, the second of the two elephants on the seesaw makes people hear a thump even though the video is noiseless.

How can you still see your feet in the reflection when it's not right in front of the mirror?
