Known locally as ‘Electric Brae’, the section is an example of a rare ‘gravity hill’.
They are called that because the ground makes the road appear to go up, when it actually goes down.
This special road has attracted car enthusiasts from all over the world who are curious about its unique features.
Over the years, theories about the path have ranged from electromagnetic fields, the influence of minerals in the soil, and even a curse imposed by witches.
But for those who are afraid of the supernatural, fear not because it is just an optical illusion.
A roadside headstone reads: “Although there is a 1 in 86 grade from the bend to the valley, the lay of the land on either side of the road provides an optical illusion that makes it appear as though the grade is going downhill.” Other shape.
