Baseball team Baltimore Orioles owner John Angelos has agreed to sell his franchise to Carlyle Group, led by two equity billionaires, David Rubenstein and Mike Arougheti. The deal is agreed for the Orioles at $1.7 billion. The Group will start with the having about 40% of the club.
The group will purchase the remaining stake after Peter Angelos’ death. MLB owners will meet in Orlando next week and receive the sale details. A Baltimore native Rubenstein has been tied to the deal for months. He will become the control person for the Orioles under the deal.
