Ashley Sparks met Dave “Heavy D” Sparks at church in 2008. And because it was love at first sight, the lovebirds tied the knot a little over a year later on August 12, 2010.
Recalling the moment he met Ashley, the Diesel Brothers star mentioned that she was the prayer he always wanted with the Lord. “I was sitting in church minding my own business when this new group of girls I’ve never seen before came along. Ashley was one of them,” he said.
But as cheesy as it sounds, Heavy D admitted that he knew Ashley was his girlfriend on the spot, before he even spoke to her. He then went to sit behind her and her friends of hers in Sunday school and passed them a note that said, “Girls, do you want to go boating sometime? A- Yes, B- No, C- You are an idiot”.
The girls then responded with Y-Yeah, but you’re still an idiot.
A few days later, Heavy D took Ashley and her friends out on a boat with some of their friends. But since the star didn’t have “two coins to rub” at the time, he took watches belonging to the company of his friend, Rockwell.
At the time, Heavy D was working for himself, operating heavy equipment, and mostly living from job to job just to try and ride out the recession.
But Ashley didn’t care about her lack of money or even a “real job.” She never asked him how she planned to earn a living. “She always believed in me and she was confident that she would do great things,” she explained.
Not surprisingly, they ended up getting married just over a year after meeting and 2 months after getting engaged.
Now, from Ashley’s perspective, she was skeptical about saying yes. “If you know me, you know that sometimes I have a hard time making decisions,” she said in her defense. But looking back over 12 years of marriage, she said: “Saying it was easily the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Plus, on her 11th wedding anniversary, she admitted that she still gets emotional when I see her name flash on her phone, still catches herself constantly checking it, still prioritizes date nights, still gets butterflies when she hears his truck, still supports all your dreams and the list goes on and on.
But in that sense, Ashley admits that no marriage is perfect. She knows that her husband sometimes thinks she’s “disgusting as hell.” And when that happens, the two of you focus on the ups and downs, not the downs.

Ashley Sparks has three children with Dave “Heavy D” Sparks named Charly, Beau, and Mack Sparks.
Their daughter, Charley Mae Sparks, was born on October 19, 2011. She is strong and sweet, cool and confident all rolled into one. Ashley describes her as Talkative, Sarcastic, Old Soul, Beautiful Dancer, Crazy Boy, and Best Big Sister.
As for his son, Beau was born on May 30, 2015. He is a tender-hearted boy and a bit sentimental. “I can’t even tell you how many times a day he stops what he’s doing and honestly says, ‘I love you mom,'” Ashley explained. But don’t let his sensitivity fool you. He is also stubborn as they come. You won’t catch him doing something he doesn’t want to do.
Finally, his youngest son, Mack, was born on May 10, 2017. He is a bit of an introvert who doesn’t talk to people because they comment on his speech and that makes him uncomfortable. Also, the little guy likes to twerk, imitate his mom’s meditation and weirdly put his finger in the air and fart when asked and say “sorry I’m just a fart”.
