After more than three years of dating, Jake proposed to Anika on his Instagram. Jake turned 33 in 2022. He was born into the family of John Herak and Alisa Smith. Jake has a sister named Sierra Smith, two brothers named Michael Smith and Bo Herak, and two brothers named Bo Herak. Bo, Michael’s brother, is the football coach at Twin Bridges High School, but little is known about Michael and Sierra. He attended the same school as his mother.

Jake has received instruction from the best hunters in Gray Cliffs to improve his hunting skills and knowledge and is a GUIDEFITTER qualified hunting guide. Jake moved to the valley when he was young, calling himself an “outdoor addict” and living in the foothills of Montana’s Tobacco Root Mountains. Eventually, he began using many Treeing Walker Coonhounds to scare the cougars away from the kingdom.
As a result, Jake has amassed quite the pack of dogs over the years. But prior to Mountain Men season 10, fans were concerned that he had lost two of his most trusted dogs (Henry and Clutch). With each winter bringing terrifying new challenges, Jake’s ability to chase lions keeps him busy.
Along with Mountaineers, viewers saw him skinning deer and gathering their meat (in S07 E06), going fishing, and killing deer and bobcat.
