Biography of Mahmoud Darwish
Darwish was born on 13 March 1941 in the Palestinian village of al-Birwa. He grew up during a time of great political turmoil, when Palestine was conquered by Israel after the Arab-Israeli War of 1948. The Darwish family was forced to evacuate their home and become refugees, and he spent most of his life as a refugee. grew up his youth in refugee camps in Lebanon and Syria.
