List of ICC Cricket World Cup Golden Ball winners (1975-2019)

The ICC World Cup is the most prestigious and arguably the largest cricket tournament on the planet. It is watched by millions of viewers around the world, especially in South Asia. The World Cup follows an international format that lasts one day and is held every four years. The next part of the World Cup will be held in India in 2023 and fans are eagerly anticipating even more exciting sporting activities.

Ten of the best teams in the world will enter the tournament and compete to raise the iconic trophy. But the glory of the World Cup doesn’t end with gold and silver trophies. The International Cricket Council (ICC) also awards the Golden Rod (top scorer), the Golden Ball (top catcher), Player of the Tournament and Player of the Match final.

Winners of the World Cup Golden Ball (1975-2019)

Australia has the most Ballon d’Or winners at the ICC ODI World Cup. Five players (Gary Gilmour, Craig McDermott, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Mitchell Starc) have won the Golden Ball for Australia a total of six times, with Starc winning the World Cup in 2015 and 2019.

Indian pitchers have taken home the Golden Ball twice: Zaheer Khan in 2011 and Anil Kumble in 1996.

Mitchell Starc is the only player to have won the ICC Ballon d’Or more than once and also holds the record for most balls in a World Cup. The Australian giants were sent off 27 times at the 2019 World Cup, although Australia were eliminated in the semi-finals.
