At Jeff Pelley’s first trial in 2006, they presented the case that the 17-year-old shot all four family members with the family pistol, cleaned the cartridge casings, and showered in less than 25 minutes.

The women’s evidence supports an alternative scenario presented by Pelley’s attorney, in which his family is killed by a gang in retaliation for Bob Pelley’s shady business practices while the family lived in Florida.
According to the state, prosecutors never acted illegally in 2006. They noted that testimony about Bob Pelley’s past life would not be admissible at the new trial because it was hearsay and that prosecutors never presented evidence at the initial trial to support their claim that the jeans were washed.
Additionally, they claim Pelley’s initial defense team investigated the Florida leads but failed to gather any evidence for the trial. Pelley raised concerns about the effectiveness of his judicial team, but during Wednesday’s hearing, Steele appeared to be primarily preoccupied with issues surrounding the blue jeans.
By mid-August, Steele had requested additional legal citations from both parties to support its claims. Ultimately, she will decide if Pelley deserves a new challenge then.
