IIT Mandi launches new shows
New IIT Mandi Programs: Indian Institute of Technology, IIT Mandi has introduced 5 new programs this academic year. IIT Mandi’s new offerings aim to equip students with knowledge and expertise in emerging fields. Interested candidates can view a short introduction to the latest programs.
New programs introduced include BTech in General Engineering, BTech in Microelectronics and VLSI, BTech in Materials Science and Engineering, BTech in Chemical Science and BTech in Mathematics and Computing. Through the JEE Advanced 2023 scoring system, admission to these programs is now available.

Bachelor of General Engineering
The first two years of this program provide a comprehensive introduction to engineering study, including mechanical engineering, civil engineering, data science, and computers. The special feature of this program, as stated by the institute, lies in the final two years, where students have the freedom to choose their major from a number of options.
These include energy engineering, advanced manufacturing, e-mobility, artificial intelligence and robotics, as well as emerging fields such as fashion and technology design, animation and product design. This flexibility allows students to shape their educational path based on their interests and career aspirations.
BTech on Microelectronics and VLSI
This program’s curriculum includes advanced courses in device-level CAD tooling, fabrication, and design, using standard EDA tools. With a focus on creating a skilled workforce for semiconductor design, the program offers state-of-the-art facilities such as cleanrooms and equipment, along with industry-focused curriculum.
In addition, students are encouraged to explore interdisciplinary courses and choose electives in the field of microelectronics and VLSI engineering. The program also provides opportunities for industry internships, major year-long engineering projects, and hands-on experience.
Bachelor of Materials Science and Engineering
This program focuses on emerging areas such as sustainability, renewable energy, urban mining, quantum technology and artificial intelligence. Its aim is to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in conventional and advanced materials.
BTech in Mathematics and Computing
The newly introduced BTech in Mathematics and Computing aims to establish a strong foundation in mathematics, computing and computational thinking in students. Emphasizes the development of analytical and problem-solving skills applicable to various fields of science and engineering.
Graduate Program in Chemical Science
IIT Mandi’s School of Chemical Sciences offers a unique and comprehensive four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Chemical Sciences. This program allows students to specialize in major branches of chemistry, including organic, inorganic, physical, and materials chemistry.
In addition, it offers minors in various engineering and humanities disciplines such as computer science and engineering, communication engineering, management and German. The curriculum offers research opportunities at the university level, allowing students to engage in research at an early stage. The program lasts four years, with an optional one-year MS program.
