GPT-4 is one of the more capable language models, but did you know that you can use it to create your own custom chatbot that specializes in something that interests you? With Dante you can. It is an AI tool that you can train with your own data: PDF files, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, Youtube videos… any information you want it to know.
Here’s how to use Dante to create your own GPT-4 chatbot.
Do you have to pay for Dante?
You can create a chatbot for free with Dante and train it on the data of your choice. However, you are limited to just 30 messages per month, a knowledge base (i.e. a custom chatbot), and the GPT-3.5 Turbo language model. If you want to build a chatbot for the GPT-4 language model, you’ll need to subscribe to the “Entry” level for at least $10 per month. This gives you not only a GPT-4 model to play with, but also 1,000 monthly credits, 10 knowledge bases, the ability to save conversations, and speech-to-text capabilities, among other things.
How to use Dante to create a chatbot
Whether you’re building a GPT 3.5 chatbot using the free tier or the GPT-4 model as part of a subscription, the process for building a chatbot is the same. Here is how to do it.
Step 1: Go to the Dante website and select start building either Try Dante for free depending on the status of your account.
Step 2 – When prompted, create an account or sign in.
Step 3 – The main screen allows you to start chatting with the default Dante chatbot. You can choose whether to use the GPT 3.5-Turbo or GPT-4 model by selecting professional either Pro+ in the upper left corner (Pro+ is limited to paying subscribers only).
Step 4: To start building your own chatbot, select new knowledge base on the left side of the window.
Step 5 – Give your knowledge base a name and then select the data you want to use for training. These can be videos, web pages or files. Use the URL or video link tool or file uploader to provide the AI with all the information it deems necessary to answer the questions you want to ask it.
In this example, I am creating a chatbot that will teach me how to play a board game and its extension. I have uploaded a PDF file containing the manual for the Leaving Earth board game and its expansion, Outer Planets.
Step 6: Once you have provided the chatbot with all the information, select create+ button.
Step 7 – Once the training is complete, you will have your very own chatbot with its own custom personality! From there, you can start chatting like you would any other chatbot, using the inquiry form at the bottom of the screen. Dante will suggest questions and follow up with questions to help you learn more or get more information from the chatbot.
Keep track of your available credits in the lower left corner of the screen. Once you use it, you will no longer be able to talk to your chatbot. You will then have to upgrade your subscription or wait until more credits are assigned to you after a certain period of time.
How to retrain Dante AI
If your new Dante-powered chatbot isn’t as powerful as you expected, or if you have new information to share with it, you can always retrain the chatbot. That is how.
Step 1 – Select the gear icon next to the knowledge base/chatbot you want to retrain.
Step 2: choose Add content.
Step 3 – Using the URL link tool and file uploader, provide the chatbot with any data you think it needs to learn to make it more efficient. then choose Save.
How to customize the Dante chatbot
If your chatbot has all the information you need, but doesn’t behave exactly the way you’d like, you can modify it too.
Step 1 – Select the knowledge base you want to customize in the left panel.
Step 2: choose Customize your chatbot in the lower left corner of the screen.
Step 3 – Set up a basic query to customize the chatbot’s personality. This can include asking you to respond in a certain style, or if you want them to respond with something outside of the data you’ve given them, such as relying on past workouts.
