Meet Holly Brand, the Mississippi girl who made a name for herself
Holly Brand auditioned for season 23 of The Voice as Faith Hill, and Kelly Clarkson was the first to spin her chair seconds after singing the first note. Judges Niall Horan and Chance The Rapper quickly followed suit.
Unfortunately, even after Holly ended her performance with a whistle, Blake Shelton didn’t push the button, prompting Kelly to question her. “What’s wrong with you? Is this thing on?” She then went on to praise Holly: “I’m so happy right now. That was incredible.”
Niall then claimed that he almost hit his bell on the first note, and she reminded him of singer-songwriter Maren Morris, which is high praise. The judge then finished persuading her by saying, “I’m telling you, we’ll do great things together if you come with me. I pray!”
Chance The Rapper was next to speak, who also agreed with Niall when he praised her for hitting every note. “The whistle took me out,” he said.
Eventually, Kelly re-stated that she grew up listening to country music and understands the contestant’s voice better than the other two coaches. This finally convinced Holly to join her team.
But despite all three judges loving her, it was clear that Holly wanted to be on Team Blake. She even brought a photo of herself when she was 10 years old and got a chance to perform in front of Blake at the concert.
It was disappointing not to see Blake in front of Holly while she sang. And it’s not just us. The entire internet is surprised that Blake doesn’t turn his chair.
