Google recently announced its first experimental AI notebook that allows users to get key insights from their existing content. Task Platforms leverage the power of language models.
The platform was first announced at this year’s Google I/O. It was first launched as Tailwind, and now the tech giant has decided to rename it NotebookLM.
Google blog statuses “At this year’s Google I/O, we showcased several AI-first experiments in development, including Project Tailwind — a new type of laptop designed to help people learn faster.
“Today, we started rolling out Project Tailwind with a new name: NotebookLM, an experimental product from Google Labs,” it added.
NotebookLM is a virtual research assistant that can summarize events, interpret ideas, and make new connections based on user-supplied sources to the AI platform.

What are the features of NotebookLM?
Google claims that their new platform reduces the risk of misinformation or misinformation, which is the main risk of other AI chatbots. That’s because the platform is designed to reduce “hallucinations,” a term used to describe the creation of false or misleading information by AI chatbots.
NotebookLM allows users to “root” the language model in their notes and sources. This means that NotebookLM can learn from user-provided information and can use that knowledge to create more accurate and relevant answers.
In its blog, Google mentions, “The key difference between NotebookLM and traditional AI chatbots is that NotebookLM allows you to ‘found a foundation’ for a language model in your notes and sources. The source platform generates efficient personalized AI that is knowledgeable about the information relevant to you.”

Fact Summary: NotebookLM provides the ability to summarize facts from your notes and sources. This can be useful for long documents to get the gist of them without reading the whole thing.
Idea Generation: This new AI platform can interpret complex ideas or generate new ideas from your notes and sources.
Citation: NotebookLM provides citations for its answer. This can be useful to verify the information it provides.
Google warns users that the platform can reduce hallucinations, but checking official sources against AI documentation is always a smart decision.
It’s important to note that the platform is still in beta and is initially only available for Google Docs. The company plans to introduce additional formats soon.
The platform is only available in the US and users are required to join a waitlist. Here’s what it says on the official NotebookLM page: “NotebookLM is your first notebook with artificial intelligence, powered by information you choose and trust. NotebookLM is an experimental and currently only available in the US. Join the waiting list to try it for yourself.”
