Devastated mum says her ‘world is shattered’ as son, 15, and 18-year-old killed in horror three-car crash

A DEVASTATED mum has said her “world is shattered” after her son and another teen were killed in a horror three-car crash.

Corey Mavin, 15, was travelling in a Suzuki Vitara with Connor Lapworth, 18, when they collided with a Range Rover and Ford Focus just days before Christmas.

Tragically, Connor couldn’t be saved and was declared dead at the scene in Cramlington, Northumberland, on Friday.

Corey was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries but died shortly after.

His mum Lisa Mavin has since heartbreakingly revealed her child’s last moments as she sat by his bedside.

She wrote on Facebook: “My world is shattered. I keep looking into his room expecting to see him there.

“I thought I heard him cough, his little brother asked if that was his voice he heard.

“I’ve never known pain like this. The last time I heard from him was 13.55pm that day

“I feel so guilty…I wish it was me but instead I lay next to my boy while his heart took its last beat.”

Two other men in the Suzuki, aged 41 and 17, were seriously injured and remain in hospital.

The 36-year-old female driver of the Range Rover also suffered serious injuries, while the Ford driver, 52, was uninjured.

Northumberland Police have launched an investigation to find out how the three cars collided.

Sergeant Russell Surrey, of Northumbria Police’s Motor Patrols department, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are firmly with the family and loved ones of the two young people who have sadly lost their lives and those who have suffered injuries in this collision.
