The Survivor star added: “When Luca was born, that fear got bigger. He would think about the “what ifs” on a daily basis. I can honestly say that it’s been a good 3 years since I’ve had those thoughts. I’m not saying relapse can’t or won’t happen, but I do think we’ll get to a point in our recovery where that obsession goes away.”
Carolyn continued: “Either it’s an obsession with drugs or an obsession with someone else’s addiction. Last night Mike reminded me that his sober birthday is tomorrow. Of course, he was terrified that he had forgotten. Obviously I got out as fast as I could and bought the balloons and the cake and decorated lol. But I realized that’s what recovery is all about. It is a lifestyle.”
He ended the post: “Days turn into months…months turn into years. You’re busy with life… real life. Not every day is perfect, but life would be hell if Mike got high on heroin. Mike has come a long way and I couldn’t be more proud of him. Happy 7 years sober.”
They have been together for over a decade and share a son named Luca. The couple has been engaged since March 8, 2014. Luca turned 9 in August 2022.
