Crazy Rich Surabaya Budi Said was found as a suspect in the gold buying and selling engineering case by the Attorney General’s Office. He had sued PT Antam in court. He was found involved in manipulating transactions so that he could buy gold at lower prices.
Investigations director Kuntadi said to hte Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes that the invention is still ongoing and they are determining the suspect after examining Budi Said.
They are conducting a case trial on 18 January 2024. The Director of Investigations said that investigators have found the suspect after an intensive examination in connection with other evidence.
Budi Said was found involved in an evil agreement with another party to abuse the authority to sell gold from Surabaya 1 Antam Boutique.
Kuntadi told the Press Conference that Budi Said carried out the engineering action together with EA. He also said that Antam’s 3 employees were also involved with the initials AP, EK, and MD in the period from March to November 2018.
The engineering was carried out by Butik Surabaya 1 through the process of selling gold below the price set by PT Antam. The low selling price of gold was disguised under the pretext that PT Antam was giving a discount.
Kuntadi also said that PT Antam employees handed over precious metals to Budi Said in excess of the amount of money paid.
He also said that the transactions for buying and selling gold were done offline so that PT Antam couldn’t control the correspondence between the amount of gold and the transaction value.
Another allegation is that the perpetrators made a fake gold sale and buy letter to disguise the engineering of the gold sale and buy transaction between Budi and Sura 1 Antam Boutique.
Behalf of this fake letter, PT Antam was positioned like it still had gold that was not handed over to the Budi.
PT Antam suffered losses worth 1136 kg of precious metal gold which is equivalent to IDR 1.266 trillion.
Budi Said was registered as the suspect of violating Article 2 paragraph 1 and Article 3 in conjunction. He was also registered with Article 18 of the Corruption Crime Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraphs 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code.
This is not the first time when Budi Siad was suspected. He had a record for having won a lawsuit at the Supreme Court with the defendant Antam in 2022. That time, the court ordered Antam to pay compensation to Budi Said of 1136 kg or 1.1 tonnes of 24-carat gold bullion.
