Assam’s 10th grade entrance exams have been cancelled: In a recent development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that there will be no exams for Year 10 students. A decision will be made. from the 2024 school year. The Government of Assam will establish a new Assam Education Board.
The move was made in accordance with the New Education Policy, NEP. The official statement of CM reads: “Matriculation exam will be held only at the school level. This is done under the new education policy. A new record will soon appear. But SEBA employees won’t lose their jobs.”

Recent developments in the Assam Middle and High School Board
The Assam Board Year 10 exams are administered by the Secondary Education Board, Assam (SEBA), while the Grade 12 exams are administered by the Assam Senior Secondary Education Board (AHSEC). According to CM, these two boards will be combined.
For students in grade 10, the pass/fail regime remains the same. Board exams will only be held for 12th graders. Due to the ongoing admissions process, students applying for 10th grade will not be required to apply for 11th grade.

The announcement was made during the announcement of Assam HS Results 2023. A total of 422,174 students took the 10th grade entrance exam this year with a pass rate of 72.69%.
