According to his attorney Pedro Marinho Falcao, Armando Pereira, a co-founder of Altice, was detained last week as part of an investigation into allegations that the group’s Portuguese procurement procedure “was rigged, with practises that were harmful to the group’s own companies and competitors.”
Patrick Drahi, a telecom magnate from France and Israel, and Portuguese immigrant Pereira formed Altice. As of Monday, he was still in arrest.

Fonseca “announced to the group that he decided to activate the suspension of his executive and non-executive roles in the management of the group in several geographies, including his positions as chairman of several affiliates,” according to a statement from Altice.
