Who is George Michael’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz?

Fadi Fawaz was born in Australia in May 1973, and is a former hairdresser for celebrities, and also worked as a photographer.

He experienced losing a celebrity close to him long before the death of his future lover when his friend, and Boyzone singer, Stephen Gately died in 2009.

That same year, Fawaz reportedly started dating George Michael after the Wham! star’s relationship with Kenny Goss ended, and Fawaz is said to have helped Michael through a series of personal issues.

However, this new relationship remained private, and Michael only publicly announced that he had split from Goss in 2011.

The two were first pictured together as a couple in 2015 in Switzerland, when Michael was reported to have checked in to the most expensive rehab clinic in the world, the Kusnacht Practice, costing £190,000 a month.

But tragically, on Christmas Day 2016, Fawaz found the singer dead in his home in Goring-on-Thames after attempting to wake him up so they could go to lunch.

An inquest ruled the singer died of natural causes and had dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.

In a statement at the time, Fawaz said he will ‘never stop missing’ Michael.

Did Fadi Fawaz get anything from George Michael’s will?

After Michael’s death in 2016, his two sisters Yioda and Melanie and cousin Alex Georgiou became embroiled in a spat with the singer’s partner over his £97,645,179 estate.

But Michael, whose real name was Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, left Fawaz nothing in his will.

His will, dated January 10, 2013, stipulated his property and personal belongings would be shared equally between his sisters.

His father Kyriacos ‘Jack’ Panayiotou was handed the use of Michael’s horse stud farm in Hertfordshire ‘for so long as he wishes.’

Paintings and art including his John Lennon piano (which is on display at a museum in Yorkshire) were to go to the trustees of the Mill Charitable Trust – a charity which Michael set up in 2009 to give money away to other charities.

The remainder of the estate was to be sold by the trustees then divided as they saw fit between his father, sisters, Shirlie Kemp, Kay Mayer (Beckenham), David Austin, Michelle May, Alex Georgiou, Connie Filippo and Sonia Bird.

What is Fadi Fawaz doing now?

Since Michael’s death, Fawaz’s life has spiraled into chaos.

In July 2019, Fawaz was arrested by police after ‘standing on the roof’ of the singer’s £5million mansion.

He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated criminal damage and taken away in a police van.

Later that year, Fawaz was pictured pacing the street in Covent Garden amid claims he was sleeping rough after checking out of a £49-a-night Travelodge.

But relatives in Australia said they had been reassured by his friends that he was fine in September 2019.

In a series of disturbing tweets the next month, Fawaz claimed Michael was HIV positive and that his late lover did not write his own songs.

He followed up the allegation with a selfie, insisting his account had not been hacked and said it was he who was sending the tweets.

In February 2021, Fawaz filmed himself ranting about his love of smoking the Class A drug crystal meth on Instagram.

In the following months, an arrest warrant was issued for him after he failed to attend court over allegations of smashing a salon window. He was subsequently fined £800 for criminal damage on 13 March at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court.

Towards the end of the year, he was fined £420 after vandalising a historic London church with graffiti.
