Billionaire oil heiress Ivy Getty shares never-before-seen pictures of her San Francisco wedding as she marks one year since her nuptials to Tobias Engel

The billionaire oil heiress Ivy Getty marked one year since her lavish San Francisco nuptials by sharing never-before-seen pictures of the event on her social media.

The 27-year-old said ‘I do’ to photographer Tobias ‘Toby’ Engel at San Francisco’s City Hall reception last year on November 7, and wowed her guests, which included actress Anya Taylor-Joy.

A year on, Ivy shared several new images for her two-day celebrations on Instagram, where she wished a husband a happy anniversary.

The snaps share a glimpse behind the scenes, and feature the numerous designer gowns she wore for the event.

‘So unbelievably special. One year,’ the socialite wrote on her social page, with a heart emoji in a post addressed to her husband.

She shared several snaps of the couple’s nuptials, including of their wedding reception, where she wore a lacy ivory gown with a see-through skirt and a choker collar.

Ivy shared several pictures of designers adding the last touches to her bridal gowns on her big day, including her dazzling Galiano number, which was adorned with broken mirrors.

Snaps also showed the bridal party, and Ivy’s rescue dog, who wore her own bridesmaid’s dress.

One picture saw enamoured husband Tobias dip his new wife and go in for a kiss during their reception.

And several other snaps showed the happy couple smiling and cheering during their big day.

Among the guests at the A-list event were members of Ivy’s family, including her aunt Vanessa Getty and her first cousin, transgender model and activist Nats Getty.

Ivy is the great-granddaughter of oil tycoon Jean Paul Getty and granddaughter of Gordon Peter Getty, who was on the Forbes 400 list of the wealthiest Americans before his passing.

Her father, John Gilbert, died of a fentanyl overdose and heart complication last year at age 52.

Also at the exclusive event was designer Wes Gordon, designer Mimi Wade, influencer Marta Mae, musician Petite Meller, fashion editor Hamish Bowles, activist Marsha Molinari, model Laura Hanson Sims, British TV host Fletcher Cowan, and filmmaker (and Kiernan Shipka’s boyfriend) Christian Coppola.

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy attended as well, and shared her well wishes on Instagram.

‘My baby girl got married yesterday,’ she wrote. ‘Being by your side all these years and your maid of honour has been nothing short of a privilege and your existence, nothing short of a miracle. I am so PROUD of the woman you’ve become. If you’re ever in any doubt- I have loved you and will love you, forever.

‘CONGRATULATIONS LIL SPICE MONKEY! You truly were the most beautiful bride,’ she added.

Photos show the majestic rotunda of City Hall with a colorful carpet down the grand staircase, purple-draped chairs for onlookers, and enormous floral arrangements.

Rentals of City Hall for a weekend evening wedding start at $10,000 just to rent the space, not including additional security, fees, catering, decor, or music.

Images also show guests living it up at the party, dancing top music and posing for photos on a rooftop.

Ivy’s makeup was done by Renny Vasquez, her hair was done by Bobby Eliot, and her nails — decorated with little butterflies — were done by Mo Qin.

But certainly the most eye-catching was her dress, which she said couldn’t be designed by anyone other than John Galliano for Maison Margiela.

The dress has a corset the color of Ivy’s skin tone, which was padded at the hips to make her waist look smaller. That was covered with tulle, which was then topped with mirror fragment dress wired together like jewelry.

‘My grandmother always wore John Galliano’s designs,’ Ivy told Vogue. ‘My grandmother always admired him so it felt as if she was there with me during all of this.’

Her grandmother likely would have worn Galliano’s designs for Givenchy, which he helmed from 1995 to 1996, and Christian Dior, which he became creative director of in October 1996. He was ousted from Dior in 2011 after video surfaced of him going on a drunken antisemitic tirade in Paris, saying ‘I love Hitler.’

Getty said that knowing how much her grandmother liked Galliano’s designs made it an easy choice.

‘After my grandmother’s passing — she was really more like a mother to me — I felt this connection to John. I knew I wanted him to create the dress for my wedding. My aunt Vanessa, who I am very close to, was connected to him through a friend, and here we are.’

They met for the first time over Zoom during the pandemic, and Ivy said they instantly clicked.

‘We just understood each other,’ Ivy says. ‘From growing up around his designs and knowing them so well, I felt like I already knew him, but this whole experience allowed me to get to know a new part of him.

‘The entire process was incredibly personal, which allowed us to get even closer. The feelings [that came along with] creating my wedding dress never got old, I am still pinching myself.’

Ivy was involved in the design process, putting together a mood board at Galliano’s request — but she insisted he should do whatever he wanted.

‘I had complete faith and trust in Galliano and his creative process. I knew I was in good hands,’ she said.

He did look to her mood board for inspiration, including nods to her late father and grandmother, who both died in 2020.

First, he included walnuts, which Ivy had put on her mood board because her grandmother had grown up on a walnut farm.

He also included guitars, an homage to Ivy’s father, who was a musician.

‘Not physically having two of the most important people in my life with me on my wedding day is extremely hard, but through John’s vision and creativity, he was easily able to bring their presence to life,’ Ivy said.

Finally, the veil includes images of elephants, because Galliano had joked about them during the design process and Ivy wanted to have a ‘momento’ of the designer in the veil.

Ivy had three fittings with the gown, first in LA, then in Paris, then in London with her bridesmaids around.

‘Each fitting felt like a dream. I constantly had to remind myself this was actually happening in real life,’ she said.

On the big day, she added Louboutin heels and her sapphire engagement ring, which she got when her husband proposed in Capri.
