On July 31, 1999, Jillian Fink got married to Patrick Dempsey at his family’s farmhouse in Maine, US. The couple made acquaintance in the 90s when Jillian was the owner and operator of the salon Delux. Although Jillian was in a relationship when Patrick visited her salon for a haircut, she got attracted to him. Thereafter, Patrick frequently started visiting the salon for haircuts. After three years, when finally Jillian became single, Patrick asked her out on a date. Together, the couple has a daughter named Tallula Fyffe (born in 2002) and twin sons, Sullivan Patrick and Darby Galen (born in 2007).
After 16 years of marriage, Jillian filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences in January 2015. However, the couple reconciled and called off their divorce on November 12, 2016.
Career
At the age of 14, she began her journey as a beautician when she started working at a salon. After pursuing a course from Charles Ross School of Hair Design in West Hollywood, Jillian worked for the cosmetics company Shu Uemura for a short period of time. Thereafter, she established her hair salon Delux in collaboration with her sister Kristen Fink. While running her salon, she also worked as a makeup artist in the American films ‘Something to Live for: The Alison Gertz Story’ (1992), Bad Love (1992), and The Crew (1994). She marked the beginning of her successful professional career when she got booked for a magazine shoot with the American actress Brooke Shields in the ’90s. Her work in the shoot attracted numerous opportunities for her to prosper in the entertainment industry. She sold her salon in 1998. Her contemplation to start her own cosmetic range finally came into action when the American actress Drew Barrymore asked her to create lip glosses for the American film Charlie’s Angels (2000). Thereafter, Jillian founded the cosmetics line Delux Beauty. The brand was known for simplifying blending by encouraging applicators to use their hands instead of makeup tools. Eventually, Delux Beauty caught the attention of Avon, a multinational cosmetics and skincare company. Avon hired Jillian as its Global Creative Color Director. For the next six years, she crafted numerous products in collaboration with Avon. In 2013, she ventured into the jewelry designing business and launched Jillian Dempsey Jewelry.
Initially, she hand-sculpted her jewelry at a small scale using the process of lost wax casting and wore her designs out for the job. Later, she was inspired to launch the jewelry line when her celebrity friends, like Kristen Stewart and Kate Winslet, took notice of her unique jewelry and demanded their own Jillian-sculpted pieces. In 2014, she established the makeup line Jillian Dempsey named after her. The eponymous makeup line launched its debut product Khol Eye Liners in 2015.
The PETA verified company assured the use of organic and naturally derived ingredients that were vegan and cruelty-free for the production. The company created five finger-friendly products Lid Tints, Cheek Tints, Khôl Eyeliner, Mini Fan Brush, and Makeup Bag, which were extensively sold at high-end stores like Sephora and Fred Segal. Later, she designed the iconic skin-care tool Jillian Dempsey’s Gold Sculpting Bar, made of 24K gold in Japan.
