Yung Miami’s Controversial Remarks About Her Son

Yung Miami revealed in 2013 that she would never want her son to be gay and that she would beat him if she realized he was. As a result, she was one of several rappers who came under fire in August 2018 after some of their old homophobic comments were circulated.

She publicly apologized in the wake of her remarks being brought up again via an Instagram post. Even after apologizing, Yung Miami popped up again on November 13, 2018, when she echoed her homophobic remarks during an interview on the radio program The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1.

She was questioned by radio personality Charlamagne tha God during the interview about her viral tweet about what she would do if she realized that her son was LGBT.

Yung Miami responded by saying that her previous tweet was about her son and had nothing to do with the LGBTQ community. She said, “I was just talking about my son. I just said that if I saw anything gay in my son, I would beat him”.

The rapper made an effort to explain what she had meant. In her own words, she said; “But that’s just like when your mother says, If you break my table, I’m going to beat the shit out of you. That doesn’t mean she’s gonna beat the shit out of you, she’s just saying it.”

Yung Miami affirmed her statement that, as a mother, she did not want her son to be gay and stressed that she had no ill will toward LGBTQ people. Actually, she clarified that she is frequently in the company of LGBTQ people, including her cousin who is a hairstylist.
