Black & Iconic: Style Gods will premiere on BET on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 9:00 p.m. ET. Emmy, Tony and Grammy Award-winning actor/singer Billy Porter will host a groundbreaking new documentary series about BET. Lynne Robinson directed the series produced by Stanley Nelson and Firelight Productions as part of the social impact campaign “Content for Change” created to mark Black History Month. Black & Iconic: Style Gods will examine how racism and high fashion have affected people of color on a systemic level, and how these effects have persisted over time.

Billy Porter, an award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated actor, director, producer, musician and activist, will host and executive produce the new BET documentary series Black & Iconic: Style Gods. The series will examine the past achievements of the black community in many areas, as well as the impact of black cultural innovators. Billy Porter, 53, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on September 21, 1969. The presenter of Black & Iconic: Style Gods makes her directorial debut in July 2022 with Ximena Garcia Lecuona’s coming-of-age drama Everything Is Possible. Porter has also written his first book, Unprotected, which will be published by Abrams Press in October 2021. Stranger Things, Porter’s latest song, is made available through his publishing deal with Island. Records (UK) and Republic Records (USA). BET Network Black & Iconic: Style Gods will premiere on Saturday, February 18, 2023, in honor of Black History Month.
